Avon has been around for more than a hundred years. The beginnings of Avon Products, Inc. can be traced to the mid-1880s, when a door-to-door book salesman named David H. McConnell had trouble selling his books. He tried to increase his declining sales by offering small samples of perfume to housewives just to give them incentive to listen to his sales pitch.

The Founder

However, instead of looking forward to buying some books, McConnell notices that his customers were actually more interested in the perfume.

With this realization, McConnell left the book-selling business to create an entire line of perfumes to be sold door-to-door and brewed perfumes in a pantry-sized space in New York City. He then named the product line the “Little Dot Perfume Set.” 

The Little Dot Perfume Set is made up of five scents:

Just within the first six months of operation, PFE Albee was able to recruit and form a team of 100 salespeople and their customers. In the next 12 years, Albee would have recruited and trained close to 5,000 Avon representatives.

During my research on this post, I was actually able to find a lot of websites by Avon ladies. I noticed that they have this reference code they include within the content that they make. So, If you don’t want to limit yourself with just selling within your social network, then selling on your own website is the answer.

If you watched the YouTube video above you will have seen that aside from creating an online store, Avon gives you an option to create your representative website.

The personalised online eStore by Avon looks nice. However, this isn’t enough because these websites aren’t set up for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) benefits.  Meaning you will get little, if any, traffic from search engines with just your eStore alone.

Anyway, If this is all new to you, then let me break them down to simpler steps and how I can help you.

Step 1 – Build Your Own Website

Although Avon provides its representatives eStore website, you have to compete with more than 6 million other Avon representatives worldwide. What would make customers buy through you instead of someone else?

So if you don’t want to keep bothering your family, friends and social media with your eStore website, what can you do?

The best option here is to create your own niche website to drive traffic from the internet to your eStore.  You see there are over 4 billion internet users online these days and growing.  I’ll explain how over these three steps.

First, you will have to pick a name for your separate niche website which you can also use to build your domain name. When you complete this process you will have to find out if that domain name is available for purchase. 

In my case, the title of my website is Earn From Your Laptop, so from this, I bought the domain name earnfromyourlaptop.com. What I did is put all the words in my title together and checked if that was available with a dot com (.com) extension. Luckily, it was, so I purchased it—or more like rented it since I had to pay a fixed fee annually to keep this specific domain name for myself.

Owning a domain name is different from having a website with that domain name since you will need a company to host your website. You can buy a domain name from many places like Go Daddy or Host Gator, where they have a system to check if the domain you want is available or not. Hosting is another thing—and another cost. Unfortunately, the spending doesn’t end there. There would also be an additional cost for website security and speed.

If you think you’re done, think again.

You would need to find a platform to create your website. 

I know. I know. It can be A LOT to handle but you’re investing in your Avon business to increase your sales.

Step 2 – Write Content

When you are all done with step 1, you now need to create engaging content that gets good traffic. In the online business world it is your quality content that sells.  You basically help the users that go to Google solve their problem they are looking for with your quality content.  This includes finding the right keywords to use in your post.

What are keywords by the way?

So Keywords are significant words used to find information when researching. Imagine, when you have a question in your head, you don’t really type the entire sentence on google, right? You type in a phrase or the word and get results. So if you have a party to go to and need to brush up on your make-up technique then you type in the search bar “makeup tutorial.”

You have to keep this in mind when writing content for your blog.

If it’s almost father’s day, write content about the different gifts people can give to their dad’s and probably throw in a lot of Avon choices in there: perfume, underwear, shirt, etc.

Avon has so many products – makeup, skincare, fragrances, body care, fashion, wellness, men’s products and home accessories.  So there are almost endless content ideas to help people with your Avon products, you just need to get creative.

Build your website and focus only on one

Write content that is at least 1,000 words for each article.

Select a good title for your article so that it will rank high in the search engines like Google

I was actually surprised how many Avon ladies are already on YouTube making content.

If you are too shy to make your own video you can leverage the Avon page recruitment and promotional videos too.

How do you do this?

• subscribe to Avon Products Official page
• make use of their videos for your YouTube channel (remember to give credit of course)
• create clear steps on how viewers can buy products from you or join your team (don’t forget your online store link and referral code or risk sending your potential customers and downline to someone else)
