The most important thing to be aware of is that solvent extraction is so common in the industry. Solvents including hexane extraction, hydrocarbon solvents, etc are widely used throughout the industry to extract 2 to 3 times the amount of oil from the plants. But this comes at a cost of these solvents, synthetics, fillers, and impurities remaining in the final product. Really, do you want an essential oil with these chemicals in it? What could those chemicals cocktails be doing to your body?

Standing out from the essential oils industry, Young Living has the strictest the “Seed to Seal” process. Young Living uses a low-pressure and low-temperature steam distillation process as thе оnlу way tо preserve thе bеnеfісіаl properties of thе oils. This рrосеѕѕ іѕ fаr ѕuреrіоr tо thе іnеxреnѕіvе, hіgh-рrеѕѕurе, high-temperature рrасtісе соmmоnlу uѕеd tо distill еѕѕеntіаl оіlѕ іn оthеr соmраnіеѕ AND without the concerning solvents, etc mentioned earlier.

Now that we’ve covered the quality differences, let’s look at the whole picture of pricing, quality and value for money.

Looking further at Young Living’s Lavender Essential Oil for example, at a wholesale price of US$24.25 per 15ml bottle (this gets even cheaper with their customer loyalty program). The ONLY ingredient is lavender plants, nothing else. Thаt’ѕ whу Young Living Essential Oils don’t have any expiry date. Pure and natural essential oils do not expire. Lavender is great for relaxation and promoting a restful nights sleep. But even at that price, the Price per Drop is a mere $0.10 and we love to diffuse this oil which lasts around 4-7 hours intermittently with a Young Living diffuser, normally 3-5 drops. So lavender works out at about $0.09 per hour. 

So comparing the price of 15ml bottles alone is incomplete. Given 1 drop of Young Living oils works deeper and lasts longer. If you try this you’ll learn this is really pure lavender. Plus, take into account that not only are you saving money but you are also reaping health benefits! You don’t get that with the cheap stuff. In fact, you may be doing more harm than you think with the cheap stuff!

So yes there are cheaper oils from other retails (with their own affiliate referral programs) and these have good perceptions of quality and brand. Other brands are more price-friendly for the general consumers who are more “price-shoppers” and don’t take the time or interest to understand the quality differences and solvents, synthetics, fillers and impurities remaining in the final product.

So many people are becoming more and more health conscious these days and are concerned about chemicals and want a toxin-free lifestyle. These people are more your target market for Young Living rather than “no-frills” bargain shoppers who buy based on price alone.

Mastering Your Referral Links

The referral link that comes standard with the membership directs people to the Premium Starter Kit sign-up. New members have loads of choices to purchase a starter kit, which range in price from $45 to typically $150-$170 (depending on the products your referrals prefer).

You can create Individual product links but these are a bit fiddly to set up and are country-specific. So this is a bit limiting given they ship to 130+ countries and you can only promote one link at a time for each country. This is a bit of a nuisance. Firstly let’s get your main referral link. You can log into your Young Living wholesale member account with your member ID number. This is known as your own Virtual Office. Under the Member Resources tab, you can create the referral link which will be tagged with your unique ID.

Young Living allows you to use this link on your website, social media, email, and even advertising. Of all these methods, I highly recommend that you start with a blog early in your Young Living journey because it will give a good foundation for your online presence, more credibility than all the competition and “noise” on social media, and also attract free traffic from the search engines.

You may also want to think about your Niche or ‘Avatar’. Choose a niche within the essential oils and wellness industry – what type of people are you trying to help?

Networking on social media using Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat, etc are common. Social media are popular platforms to reach out to people simply because so many people are on them. So it’s what most network marketers use for starters, it’s the common and easiest way to promote Young Living online because it’s duplicatable and simple however it has its limitations. Notably, so many network marketers make the mistake of being “salesy”. Please do not appear like a “human sales billboard” with Young Living all over your profiles, instead I help people to employ Attraction Marketing methods.

Facebook: Facebook has more than 2.4 Billion users! It is easy to use and you can create a Page linked to your account just for your home-based business. Instagram: Many users prefer Instagram over Facebook and other social media. Personally, Instagram is not as convenient as Blogging and Facebook because you can’t post from a laptop or desktop. However, Instagram has great engagement and over 1 Billion monthly users. So if you are creative with eye-catching pictures and clever use of #hashtags then Instagram is a great addition.

LinkedIn: Is more professional in nature and allows geo-targeting. It all depends on where your niche or avatar spends time.

Your blog is the vehicle you use for your content, your hub of operations. It’s an asset that you own, it’s the place where people can always find you and how to contact you. You have more control over your visitors actions – compared to all the distractions to them when they see you on social media. Social media complements blogs so well, think of them as like separate spokes on a wheel and the blog as your hub.

The real beauty of your own blog is you can attract free traffic from search engines. Note that most MLM companies have pre-made websites. Young Living has paid plans for these. You could select a plan and they will take care of the web technicalities, template and hosting for you:

• MyYL Website is a paid plan “making you the face of Young Living”. It’s like your own little pocket within the Young Living website, but at US$9.95 Monthly and A$6.82 Monthly, etc,
• YLDist websites cost between US$10 to $15 per month. These are like your own Young Living Rep websites.

I don’t see many people using either of these ready-made options. They are ready-made, so they aren’t bad for those that want to budget for this and want to get a good-looking website up and running quickly.

For individual products and the starter kits, you can use these personal distributor websites created by Young Living. The main drawback is that they can’t be optimized for SEO so how do you get traffic to them? After all, a website without traffic is like a signpost in the desert.

So if you want a solid platform that you can scale, I highly recommend creating a personal WordPress blog. They are great for design/function customization and rank better on the search engines. Step 2: Get Traffic to Your Website

How to build your all-important traffic comes from a combination of creating relevant content for your site, what the readers want, and making the reader experience a good one.

Remember your niche, what type of people are you trying to help?

How you help people is through your content. So the next thing to do after setting up a blog is to create content. Some examples include content that is targeted to help people who are interested in aromatherapy but have not tried the Young Living oils yet. This context is relevant because your referral link is best used to get new members to purchase a starter kit.

Your content can be anything that is helpful within the essential oils niche and broader wellness niche, except that;
