The essential oils industry is really booming and growing rapidly worldwide. This widespread popularity of essential oils shows it’s potentially profitable to affiliate marketers and bloggers.
The total market value of essential oils sales worldwide is expected to grow from around 17 billion U.S. dollars in 2017 to about 27 billion dollars by 2022. People want more and more natural and organic products, this is what’s driving huge increases in essential oil use across multiple industries.
As the industry grows, so does the opportunity for affiliate marketers who can help spread the word about essential oils, about the companies that provide them, and help people with what they are looking for. As a blogging niche, can you think of any niche more lucrative?
For centuries, essential oils have been used as alternative medicine. Nowadays, people are more and more interested in natural remedies for common ailments and they smell amazing too. Today, essential oils can still be used for medical purposes for natural healing, but even more for aromatherapy, skincare, and alternative healing practices Also in so many industries like personal care products, cosmetics, perfumes, food and beverages, and household cleaners.
How as a blogger or affiliate marketer can you capitalize on this huge essential oils business opportunity? Bloggers like you can use content marketing strategies to publish valuable information focusing on helping your target audience with that they are looking for.
With high demand and essential oils being in so many products, content possibilities for essential oils are endless.
Are you interested in how to make money with essential oils as an affiliate?
Do you have a passion for natural, healthy products that you can share?
So let’s get into it. Here’s a list of top 10 essential oils affiliate programs that you can use to jump start your income and profits for your essential oils niche blog.
Also I’ll cover:
- some bonus affiliate programs on Essential Oils Courses, Classes and Promotional items.
- Plus the two big direct selling companies that can also be marketed as an affiliate, giving opportunities to essential oils niche bloggers too.
Best Essential Oils Affiliate Programs
There are dozens of affiliate programs for essential oils but I tried to narrow it down to the ones that my research shows are the better ones. The ones that are going to give you the biggest payouts, have some great and unique products that you can promote.
I’ll also share what I could find on product quality about each company, as this may be important to your integrity as a blogger and helping your customers. I’ll exclude the Perfume grade (100% synthetic essential oils) and also those as Food Grade (mix of synthetic and pure essential oils). The first prize essential oils are the highest grade – Therapeutic quality – 100% Pure Essential Oils, to help your audience the most.
There are some common questions and confusion around quality. Are the essential oils:
- “Therapeutic Grade” or “100% Pure”?
- Extracted with strict production and distillation Versus solvent extraction?
Best in terms of quality are Therapeutic quality – 100% Pure Essential Oils. They are usually made from organically grown plants distilled at the correct temperatures using steam distillation. They’re definitely mоrе expensive but these аrе the oils that hаvе the truе thеrареutіс benefits tо оur bоdу. These are priced higher but have the highest benefits. In this industry you get what you pay for so it will also depend on where your readers (target market) are on this buyer categorization:
- Price shoppers: more price conscious, value buyers or bargain hunters
- Value buyers: value quality but like best quality for price. May think is this the best quality I can afford?
- Highest quality buyers: that insist on highest quality. May think I don’t want any chemicals or solvent residues because I value health so highly.
In choosing the Best Essential Oil brand to partner with, I recommend you think about your target market’s buyer category and how you can best help them. Picture your target customer and some questions to consider before choosing the best essential oil company are:
- Are you wanting protecting blends for family health support?
- If family health is the highest priority, consider if the company’s oils use solvents/petrochemicals in extraction? And whether they remain in the final product? (I cover this in my review)
- Do you want pure organic oils?
- Do you care about price?
- Do you care about where the products come from?
- Do you want a company that offers kid-safe essential oils?
- Are you just adding them to homemade cleaners such as cleaning the floor? (then the lower quality essential oils will do)
Here is my list of the Top 10 Essential Oils Affiliate Programs, ordered by commission from highest to lowest. Later as a bonus, I’ll cover three additional course based affiliate programs and also the two big direct selling companies that can also be marketed as an affiliate.

Dharmaceuticals has been around for a long time since 1991, and is based in California, USA. They create “100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils”.
It’s impressive that they’ve always operated by word of mouth without huge marketing campaigns or investors. To me, this shows they have confidence in their products because when people like them they typically recommend them to others. Their products contain over 100 different blends and are also cruelty-free.
Everything is prepared by hand, and to achieve the highest vibration they search globally to find and use the best botanicals available each season. They promise pesticide-free and wild-crafted products and make interesting comments on the flaws in the “certified organic” label which doesn’t necessarily mean pesticide-free. They confirmed that Jasmine and Rose absolute are solvent extracted and they use Hexane.
Dharmaceuticals sells a variety of products, including essential oils, body sprays, bath salts, bubble baths and shower gels, and spritz aromatherapy room sprays.
Why Promote Dharmaceuticals?: Affiliates can sign up and earn 15%. Then earnings can be as high as 40% for affiliates who sell more than $5,000/month worth of products, so this is the highest in this list.
The tiers are called Class Requirements and currently work as follows based on amount of sales per year:
Class E: $500 – $1000 in sales per year merits 15%.
Class D: $1000 – $2500 in sales per year merits 20%.
Class C: $2500 – $5000 in sales per year merits 30%.
Class B: $5000 – $10000 in sales per year merits 40%.
For your customers they make it really easy to buy. When choosing their essential oil blends, they are conveniently categorized into about 20 types e.g. essential oils for sleep, essential oils for women, etc. This makes for easy buying decisions by helping your referrals find exactly what they are looking for.
Commission: 25% for individual affiliates and 30% for business/corporate affiliates e.g. massage therapists, day spa, yoga studio etc.

Rocky Mountain Oils
Commission: 9% to 13% (Commissions used to be higher but were lowered in August 2019)
Cookie Length: 30 Days
Rocky Mountain Oils is based in Utah and founded in 2004. Rocky Mountain’s essential oils “are 100% pure and authentic” and “guarantee that our essential oils contain no adulterants by conducting internal analysis as well as independent third party GC/MS testing”.
They even provide “GC/MS Lookup” on the website, showing test results from an independent lab on all of their essential oils. This helps customers know that their oils are pure and of high quality.
Rocky Mountain Oils quality looked great compared to most others, so I queried their quality and extraction process further. I Iearned that almost all of their oils use no solvents for distillation. There are a couple necessary exceptions, vanilla (one version uses CO2) and jasmine (hexane), otherwise, they say the cost would be extreme. Their oils have not been adulterated with fillers, synthetics or fragrance enhances nor have they been heated (except one oil, FCF Bergamot, which is heated after distillation to burn off the Bergaptene content (Furocoumarin), since furocoumarin is considered photo-toxic).
Rocky Mountain Oils products include more than 70 single oils and also many blended oils, 10 of the single oils are USDA certified organic essential oils. They have released the “Tohi” range of natural, plant-based and toxin-free ingredients and including their essential oils. The range includes, supplements, skincare, body care, household cleaners and bath soaks.
There’s also a 90-day no hassle return policy and customer satisfaction guarantee. Customers in the United States get free shipping. Customers outside the United States can also get free shipping if their order totals $199 or more, so it’s great that they are global. Also, professionals certified in holistic, medical, or alternative healing or businesses who use Rocky Mountain Oils in their practices can get 20-40% discounts through the wholesale program.
Why Promote Rock Mountain Oils?: Affiliates can sign up as exclusive, where they don’t promote any other essential oils, and get 13% commission. If they sign up as non-exclusive, they get 9% commission, and they can’t participate in exclusive offers and incentives.
The shopping menu breaks down products by various needs such as cleaning, energy, relief and they also have a customer loyalty program which makes for easier buying decisions and repeat orders.
Plant Therapy commission rates and cookie terms are at the lower end of the scale. But I added them as a bonus review as they are fast becoming popular as a cost-effective yet high quality products for the more budget-friendly shoppers.
Cookie Length: Currently 7 days
Plant Therapy are based in Twin Falls, Idaho and founded in 2011. Plant Therapy’s essential oils are “100% pure, undіlutеd еѕѕеntіаl оіlѕ that also аrе thе hіghеѕt quality аvаіlаblе.”
Similar to Rocky Mountain Oils, Plant Therapy provides “Batch Specific Promise” on the website. Every bottle of essential oil that you purchase from Plant Therapy will have a specific batch code that tells Plant Therapy exactly which batch of oil is in your bottle. This іnfоrmаtіоn is аlѕо directly lіnkеd tо thе testing reports fоr еасh batch of oil. Customers can see each essential oil’s GC/MS report at any time by going to the specific essential oil’s product page and clicking on Test Reports.
Plant Therapy Oils quality looked pretty sound compared to others, so I queried their quality and extraction process further. Plant Therapy confirmed that:
1. The oils that are solvent extracted are the following: Vanilla Oleorein, Rose Absolute, Jasmine Absolute, and Boronia Absolute.
2. The solvent used is usually hexane but it also depends on the supplier.
3. Plant Therapy do test all of their oils, and have the reports available to view on the website. The test reports would show if the solvent was still present, and if this was the case Plant Therapy say they would not purchase the batch.
Plant Therapy’s products include hundreds of single essential oils, various synergy blends, various sets, carrier oils, roll-ons, diffusers, body care, and accessories. Customers can shop for kids through the Kidsafe filter. They also have other filters for just about everything making easy buying for your customers. Such as ordering from the bargain bin, for men, and even for pets. In addition, they have a CBD oil range including pure, broad-spectrum CO2 Hemp Extract to capitalize on this booming demand for CBD oil.
There’s also a 90-day 100% money back guarantee. Customers in the United States get free shipping. Customers outside the United States can also get affordable shipping rates and estimated shipping times, so it’s great that they are global. Also, they offer a wholesale program split into four groups: Wholesale, Professional, Institutional and Institutional Member. Again this mainly benefits retail outlets and licensed aromatherapist, practitioner, massage therapist and/or chiropractors.
Why Promote Plant Therapy?: The prices are budget-friendly, priced below what most other well-known companies sell their essential oils for.
With their different gift sets and various filters under shop, it really does make for easy buying by your customers. Also, their rewards program is great for your customers to save money by getting their products at a reduced rate, which makes for easier buying decisions and repeat orders. With the bonus that shipping is available internationally.
The key is to understand your target market and meeting their needs. From my buyer categorization earlier, Plant Therapy seem a perfect choice for value buyers that value quality but like best quality for price. The more health conscious and highest quality buyers that insist on highest quality, with the hexanes and solvents used, may prefer the highest quality oils (most notable being at the end of the review below).
Bonus #1: Essential Oils Courses, Classes and Promotional

Depending upon your blog and niche, these can be an additional way of helping your readers by further expanding their knowledge of essential oils. Essential Oils Academy
Commission: 25% of sales you refer for Essential Oils Academy Facebook Classes
Cookie Length: N/A
Essential Oils Academy is different from the other affiliate programs listed here and can compliment them.
Angela Newsome created the Essential Oils Academy to provide a variety of classes based on becoming an Essential Oils expert.
After purchase, users can access these classes as many times as they like and they will also get ongoing support and compliance updates. Affiliates in this position are expected to promote online classes about essential oils and how to grow an essential oil business. This is done mostly on social media sites.
The classes cover just about every topic you can think of. This includes topics such as aromatherapy techniques, essential oils and women’s health, essential oils and kids, oils of the bible, and the essential oil 30 day spring cleanse.
The company also offers digital “TearPads”, which are information pages covering class material for offline use.
Essential Oils Academy also has their unique monthly planner subscription boxes. These subscriptions can include Facebook classes, daily social media post packages, digital TearPads, and more. They even include leadership classes which seem to be geared towards doTERRA training, depending on the subscription. They range in price from $47-$87 per month.
Another great convenience about the subscriptions is that a promotion plan with all the materials is laid out for you month by month. So this means all you have to do is check promotion ideas off your to-do list.
These subscriptions are geared towards Essential Oil business builders rather than essential oil affiliates and Essential Oils Academy notes “to EOA Affiliates: Due to system limitations, affiliate commissions are not available for EOA Monthly Planner Subscription Box sales.”
Why Promote Essential Oils Academy?: It is unique in the essential oils industry and can compliment your essential oils affiliate product offerings. Also, the classes and related products seem useful for helping people grow their Essential Oils business. The 25% commission rate is high, too.

Bonus #2: Network Marketing/Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) companies
- Young Living
No review of the best essential oils affiliate programs would be complete without examining the two big direct selling companies that can also be marketed as an affiliate. This gives opportunities to essential oils niche bloggers as well as distributors from those companies.
doTERRA Essential Oils
Commission: doTERRA has a compensation plan instead of straight forward percentage affiliate commissions. Essentially it comprises three elements for affiliates:
- Retail Profits of 25% from retail customers
- Unilevel commissions 2-7% (similar to affiliate commissions)
- Bonuses for first 60 days of your new members purchases
As well as other complicated bonuses for those dedicated to building an MLM business with doTERRA.
Cookie Length: N/A
doTERRA is based in Pleasant Grove, Utah and founded in 2008. doTERRA applies strict quality control standards for their essential oils and describe this as “Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG)” which they have trademarked. It’s their internal process for measuring the purity, potency, and consistency of each batch.
doTERRA’s testing includes GC/MS testing, gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), heavy metal testing, organoleptic testing, and microbial testing.
That all sounds very extensive, but I was surprised that their website discloses their solvent extraction which you could easily miss reading this amongst the library of information there. Here’s come key disclosures “Choosing a good solvent is an important first step. Typically, less polar compounds (such as pentane or hexane) or alcohols (such as methanol or ethanol) are used as solvents.” Then this surprise “Only 1–5 percent of the solvent will remain in the final product.”
Credit to doTERRA for being honest. So knowing they are using solvent/hexane extraction, these petrochemicals appear in the final products. Many companies do this because it produces 2 to 3 times the amount of oil from the plant.
doTERRA partners with expert growers, harvesters, chemists, etc. to provide the highest quality and most potent essential oils. They do not own their own farms and don’t disclose the identities of their supplies and external laboratories.
doTERRA is a global player and has an estimated $5.1B market size and over 3M customers and wellness advocates (distributors) so there is definitely a demand for their products.
doTERRA is an MLM company, this could be a “turn off” to some people. However, it is possible to make some money selling their products. They have a competitive pay structure. You can even get started as a “Wellness Advocate” and sell their products online versus the traditional door to door or brick and mortar way.
Overall, doTERRA has high-quality essential oils. Their prices are a bit higher than others, and the quality may raise concerns for those very particular about their health.
Why Promote doTERRA?: There is a Loyalty Rewards Program available to wholesale customers and wellness advocates, that encourages repeat purchases.
There are three market drivers that make doTERRA grow and a potentially good opportunity: the sustained health and wellness trend, direct selling is creating awareness, and digital marketing.
If you are already with doTERRA and love their essential oils, company culture etc, you may as well promote them as a blogger rather then just the old school network marketing and common social media ways. These ways alone can be just plain hard work!
Blogging with doTERRA can be like an affiliate type of program that works well for any website or blog. I have a great deal of experience with SEO to promote your referral links and learned everything from the best training platform and mentoring community online. Here you can learn how to do what I do inside this training community and I’ll help you do it. Young Living is based in Lehi, Utah and founded way back in 1993 and have offices all around the world. Young Living pretty much founded the industry and are the leader in terms of popularity.
Young Living Is a world-class direct selling company that is also a world leader in essential oils. Their strict Seed to Seal® process produces pure essential oil products for every individual. “Seed to Seal® рrосеѕѕ рrеѕеrvеѕ the іntеgrіtу аnd potency of essential оіlѕ through every ѕtер of thе рrоduсtіоn рrосеѕѕ.” Young living also has skin care, body care, cleaning, nutritional, and many more products that can cover the whole house and daily lives of your customer base.
Young Living is well-known as the world’s global leader in producing the best, purest and most authentic Essential Oils. So if you’re going to leverage this booming industry, you may well consider partnering with the best quality, if integrity and purity are important to you and your customers.
There is competition in the industry, many competitors use impressive sounding marketing terms like “therapeutic grade”, “pure” etc. So your customers may find it hard to know for your customers which are the best essential oil brands? After all, this is an industry that isn’t regulated by the FDA. Oil quality varies greatly depending on the distillation process and traces right back to the plants, seeds and soil.
Pretty well all the companies I researched used solvents in solvent extraction for some oils. With solvent/hexane extraction, there are petrochemicals in the final products. This is widely used throughout the industry to extract 2 to 3 times the amount of oil from the plants but at a cost of these solvents, synthetics, fillers and impurities remaining in the final product.
To truly help your audience and customer base, do you want an essential oil with these chemicals in it? What could those chemicals cocktails be doing to people’s bodies?
I queried Young Living’s Product Support team for more detail on how Young Living do it differently to NOT use solvents for flower material. Here’s their reply:
“We do not use alcohol, CO2 extraction, or solvents of any kind in the distillation process for our essential oils. Solvent extraction is only used for absolutes (Jasmine and Onycha). Ethanol is used as the solvent for our absolutes. The solvent is flashed off during the extraction process leaving only the natural components found in the plant material.”
Unlike the competitors, Young Living does own their own farms so that’s how they control the whole process. Literally from Seed, the Soil right through every process to Sealing the essential oil bottles. They do exhaustive and stringent testing covering the entire process. They also have an open policy on farm visits.
Another factor setting Young Living apart is their Lacey Act Compliance Program. This is all about sustainability of plants, making them the only essential oil company to have made the effort to be recognized by the US government with that compliance.\
Young Living is a global player and most well-known essential oils company with over $1.5 Billion in annual sales and over 4M customers and members (distributors), with products shipped to over 133 countries and growing. So there is definitely a demand for their products and you can have a global customer base.
Again like doTERRA, Young Living is an MLM company, this may be a “turn off” to some people. However, of course it’s possible to make some money selling their products. They have a competitive pay structure. You can even get started as a Young Living wholesale “Member” and sell their products online versus the traditional face to face, or brick and mortar way.
I cover how to master your affiliate marketing or referral links in this post.
Overall, Young Living clearly has the highest-quality essential oils. Their prices are a bit higher than others, but the quality is unparalleled.
Why Promote Young Living?: Young Living members and customers seem very LOYAL, there are tons of people that love their products.
One of the many reasons why is there’s a member Loyalty Program called Essential Rewards (ER) available to wholesale customers and members, that encourages repeat purchases. It’s wise of Young Living to start the loyalty at 10%, then 20%, then 25% every month after 1 year. So your customers on monthly repeat orders have big incentives to keep ordering.
The same three market drivers that make Young Living grow and a potentially good opportunity: the sustained health and wellness trend, direct selling is creating awareness, and digital marketing.
If you are already with Young Living and love their essential oils, company culture etc, you may as well promote them as a blogger rather then just the old school network marketing and common social media ways. These ways alone can be just plain hard work!
